Piano Recital 2013 06-15 by students of Thu Ly
Summer is officially here! The children are relieved that all of their hard work has paid off!! It’s already tough enough to complete those end-of-school-year final exams/tests, projects, music concerts, sports events, after school clubs, and teams activities, but add an extracurricular piano recital on top of all of that and the children have become hard core, deadline veterans, ready to strut their stuff so they can finally enjoy some good, old-fashioned, R&R!! These children and teenagers have put in major hours to hone their skills on the piano.
I’m certain that Sunny, Seong, and Angelica had their hands full and their minds overloaded from everything they needed to get done before the end of the school year. Richelle and Richmond had similar expectations/goals and I know they had orchestra performances too. Richelle was busy preparing for her dance troupe performances on top of all of that! Ever was clocking in approximately three hours of daily practice time in preparation for performances three evenings in a row. On June 13, 2013, Ever, Emersen, and Cara, all performed at their Spring Music Concert. Cara sang with her heart on her sleeves! Emersen sang with his classmates and gave a wonderful vocal solo! Ever also sang and provided piano accompaniment for the kindergarten classes and the first grade classes throughout three songs. Mrs. Johnson, the marvelous music teacher at Maplewood MK-8 gave Ever grand acknowledgment for his skills in helping the younger grades. He graciously bowed and received roaring applause from a 1,000+ appreciative audience! On June 14, 2013, Ever was invited to perform at the retirement party for his orchestra teacher. Richelle, Ever’s cousin, joined him for their piano duet. Ever also performed his individual recital piece as a precursor for the next day’s event. Richelle and Ever received great applause from the 100+ in attendance. And, finally, on June 15, 2013, the following seven selections were performed among forty-four total piano pieces during the 2013 Piano Recital by students of Thu Ly. Thu Ly is an outstanding piano instructor that sets the highest standards for all of her students. Every year builds upon the previous recitals and these students performed with great inspiration. All of the students definitely wanted to make their instructor proud!!!
I could boast about each pianist, but I’ll be quiet here and let these amazing performances speak for themselves. Between Thu Ly and me, we chose among the best performances recorded for each piece. Some of the videos are from the actual recital while others were recorded privately for optimum recording quality. Enjoy!!!
