October 3, 1998 is the first anniversary of many that my wife and I celebrate every year. That was the day I met my wife-to-be during a mutual friend’s wedding and thus beginning our fairy tale life together. Through the days following, I used the music of Bobby Caldwell to woo a beautiful woman named Catherine Gipaya and serenaded her continually with the music we both loved.
“Love Lite” by Bobby Caldwell is one of those songs I would sing to her. If I could get more music in the style of Bobby Caldwell, I would happily cover more of his titles, but his music is not readily available for fans like me. I may cover his greatest hit “What You Won’t Do For Love”, but I am passionate about so many other songs he has released, I wished I could sing those instead. Who knows? I may get lucky one of these days.
I actually received permission directly from Bobby Caldwell in order to use music for “Love Lite” for a third CD of covers I was producing with a friend, but we never completed that project. So, in lieu of releasing my cover of “Love Lite” on that CD, I’m posting a renewed version on YouTube to celebrate a month full of anniversaries with the love of my life.
Mr. Bobby Caldwell, if you ever read this, I wholeheartedly wish to sing more of your music. PLEASE!!!!!!! I understand you have many diehard fans, but if you enjoyed my cover of one of your many hits, PLEASE let me cover more of your music!!!!!!! I’m begging you!!!!!!! Yes, that’s right. I’m not ashamed to beg. XD
“Love Lite” can be enjoyed as the fifth track on Bobby Caldwell’s CD Where Is Love released in 1993 by Sin-Drome Records, Ltd.; lyrics by Bobby Caldwell; music by Bobby Caldwell and Najee.
