Neon Trees - Animal (C. Allen, B. Campbell, E. Doty, T. Glenn, T. Pagnotta) ~ Erwin Lazaro 1523/10/2013 What happened to January and February of 2013!?! I’m certain we celebrated New Year’s last week! I blinked and here we are beginning the second week of March … CRAZZZZZZZY! Wait! We also lost an hour of Zzzzzzzs! Spring forward!?! NO WAY! Okay … gettin’ over it … Movin’ on with life! Feels a little like the Twilight Zone, actually.
Well, to tell the truth, growing children can make any period of time feel like a blur! LOL! All of the parents know this to be the case, and then some. I know a few parents who stay up late like me because it’s the only time for catching up! Family and responsibilities come first, as it should be. I never thought that a 24 hour cycle would be too short for each day, but that’s exactly how I feel. Thus, priorities are placed in order. The list toppers have no other place and must always take precedence. Personal goals like writing this blog and developing my family website conclude my daily list; always last. If I’m lucky, I can write down a few ideas during the day and then come back when everything else is finished in order to fully develop my work. Today is no different. In fact, I have to interject by stating that it is incredibly difficult to postpone creativity. It’s even more difficult to schedule creativity. The principle of the matter is an oxymoron in and of itself. But, where there is a will, there is a way. Passion is the driving force. So, I pragmatically schedule my creativity. What choice do I have if I want to successfully fulfill my desires? I have to make the most out of my opportunities. Otherwise, time passes mercilessly. I refuse to regret. Even so, I tend to pause at the end of a day and ask myself, “Where did the day go?” I slowly take a deep breath and get on with life. Then, my smile comes forth because I know my efforts have great value for my loved ones. And, if my loved ones are happy, I’m happy. That’s the bottom line for me. I know my wife feels the same way, except that she also feels we never have enough time for one another, regardless of the amount of time, even if it’s a full day! We never have enough time for one another. I’m truly the luckiest man to have the most beautiful woman love me as she does. I pray to never let her down. And, since I’m reinforcing this daily “lack of time” issue, I have to mention that my family’s happiness also depends on quality time with board games or karaoke before closing out every day with prayers, but it’s still never enough. Unlike adults, children audibly express their horror when it’s time to get ready for bed. After prayers, after kisses, after “good nights and sweet dreams” are wished, and doors are closed, when my family slumbers, my personal day begins. I tap into my energy reserve and dedicate that amount to my personal projects. I’ve adapted to my circumstances and I continually thank our Lord God in Heaven for allowing me to live such a Blessed life. I have to identify, acknowledge, and be grateful for every breath I take. Now, some people might be thinking a cup of coffee is in order since I don’t generally sleep until two or three in the morning, but I don’t drink coffee. Instead, the “right” music has the same waking effect for me. When I need a ‘pick me up’, I take a break and listen to music with a BITE! Hehehe! And then, I’m good until I’m ready to call it a day, especially during times like this morning when I’m losing an hour for DST! My first cover for 2013 is exactly that. It’s an alternative rock hit from 2009. I couldn’t resist by posting my cover of “Animal” by Neon Trees and use it as a way to mark the late post in the third month of the New Year. I have more in store, but somehow, I didn’t feel the time was right to post any covers, until now. This cover is a little self-indulgent, but I hope that my love for this tune will still be appreciated by all who know me and understand what I’m doing! From Wikipedia: "Animal" is the lead single from Neon Trees' debut album Habits. It debuted in October 2009 at #100 on the Billboard Hot 100 and has reached a peak of #13 in its 22nd week on the chart. In Canada, the song debuted at number 95 on the Canadian Hot 100 and has climbed to No. 29. The song has reached number one on the Billboard Alternative Songs chart after 32 weeks, making "Animal" their first number-one song on a Billboard chart. This also broke the record for the longest length of time for a song to get to the top of that list after entering. The song reached number two on the Billboard Rock Songs chart. In one of the music videos of the song, the band is destroying an art gallery. On May 22, 2011, the song won Top Alternative Song in the 2011 Billboard Music Awards.
