A complete stranger discovered me through YouTube and asked me to help her make peace with her sorrowful heart. I was stunned by what I was reading. Cat and I were so moved. I immediately acted on Kat's requests. That weekend, I put on my black suit and tie, set up my family room, and sang "Wind Beneath My Wings" for the very first time. Of course, I've enjoyed Bette Midler's music on the radio many times. But, this was the first time that I had ever sung one of her famous songs. I'm honored to present to all of you, this special request, that includes the last words exchanged between dear friends. What you are about to read comes directly from Steven's last letter to his dear friend, Kat.

I love you Kitten, remember to love yourself always. and Keep God in your heart always, see you later. Princess, Love Steven" From Wikipedia: There is speculation that "Wind Beneath My Wings" may have actually originated in 1972, by a gospel group called the Mighty Clouds of Joy, on their self-titled album. Evidence of this is needed. However, they did record the song in 1992, on their album Catching On. "Wind Beneath My Wings" was later recorded by Sheena Easton in 1982, for her Madness, Money, & Music album. It was not released as a single by her record company. Although, she performed it on The Tonight Show, The Merv Griffin Show, her HBO live concert special, as well as her NBC television special. It was later made into the title of a country (later pop) song, re-written by Larry Henley and Jeff Silbar. The second recording was in 1982 by Roger Whittaker. It was then covered by Colleen Hewett in early 1983. Gladys Knight also recorded another cover later that same year. In fact, Knight's edition was a Top Ten country hit, and it won the Academy of Country Music and Country Music Association Song of the Year awards that year. In 1987 it was recorded by Perry Como, and two years later by Bette Midler. Bette Midler's rendition was a Number One Billboard Hot 100 hit. "Wind Beneath My Wings" was also recorded by Bette Midler for the soundtrack of the film Beaches. It was named Record of the Year and Song of the Year at the 1990 Grammy Awards. "Wind Beneath My Wings" was also recorded by Country Artist Gary Morris and reached the Top 10 of the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart.
