While last week represented my departure, this week represents my journey for self-rediscovery. 1,600 miles up and down the U.S. western coast line, was filled with emotional tirades, stepping stones towards peaceful moments of serene silence, and bridged by endless singing. Thankfully, this was a one man show, with only ME, as the audience.
I wasn't REALLY alone. I WAS alone with my Faith. I had some great conversations. I did meet nice people along the way, but those aren't the conversations I'm referring to. What, you think I wasn't social along my journey in finding myself? Au contraire mon fraire! I enjoyed pleasant conversations with perfect strangers ... in broad daylight, of course. I kept my wits about me. Mom and dad didn't raise a fool. No, I'm referring to the screaming, I'm referring to the sobbing, I'm referring to the calm, I'm referring to the peace that I sought. Ahhhhhhh ... the ME that I had lost, and found, over the course of 1,600 miles. "We're All Alone" is perfect for my reflection. Maybe, you can figure out, from Whose perspective it is sung. Interpret it, however you'd like, but know that it is Pure. And, my soul was cleansed. Outside the rain begins and it may never end So cry no more on the shore A dream will take us out to sea Forever more, forever more Close your eyes and dream And you can be with me 'Neath the waves, through the caves of ours Long forgotten now We're all alone We're all alone Close the window Calm the light And it will be alright No need to bother now Let it out Let it all begin Learn how to pretend Once a story's told It can't help but grow old Roses do Lovers too So cast your seasons to the wind And hold me dear Oh, hold me dear Close the window Calm the light And it will be alright No need to bother now Let it out Let it all begin All's forgotten now We're all alone oh-oh, we're all alone Close the window Calm the light And it will be alright No need to bother now Let it out Let it all begin Owe it to the wind, my love The footage at the end of my video was taken along the Oregon coast. Somewhere in Oregon, I found a coastal town, wove my way down an amazing scenic drive, until I couldn't drive any closer to the Pacific Ocean. I hopped out, grabbed my video camera, climbed down some rocks - Not very smart. In fact, I scraped up my right leg pretty badly. I found myself within that beautiful cave, looking out towards that distant lighthouse. All alone ... Priceless. From Wikipedia: "We're All Alone" is a song written by Boz Scaggs who introduced it on his 1976 album, Silk Degrees: in 1977 "We're All Alone" was a Top 10 hit for Rita Coolidge in the US and the UK.
